The vital role of air charter in today’s time-critical logistics
Publié: Lundi, 11 Juillet 2022
Over the past two years, air charter has become a vital tool for time-critical logistics. Belly capacity is slow to return to a normal rate and companies are still favouring chartering aircraft over air cargo.
Since the start of the pandemic, we have seen an increase in the use of air charter for time-critical logistics. Supply chains have changed dramatically and the logistics industry has had to adapt by creating innovative solutions and turning to other methods.
To add to this, the lack of new aircraft has seen the price of transporting goods via air cargo increase as the demand is so high. This, in turn, is affecting the price of goods for the end user.
The ongoing issues with sea freight will undoubtedly see the continued popularity of air charter as companies seek ways to transport goods further in a short space of time in order to keep up with demand and reduce downtime.
We work with companies all over the globe, delivering a variety of goods from one side of the world to the other. Without the use of air charter, it would take days for parts to reach their desired location rather than the hours that are required for time-critical deliveries. These customers tend to be in the manufacturing sector where disruption to the supply chain could result in costly delays and potential downtime.
We have a vast selection of aircraft available to charter that meet our clients’ needs. This could be any type of aircraft, from a Cessna or helicopter for a small load through to a larger aircraft for oversized freight. We forecast that there will be an increased need for the larger planes this year as the world recovers from the pandemic and, hopefully, supply chains start to return to capacity.
By using a chartered aircraft, our clients are minimising downtime in their factories by choosing the quickest solution. We have the resources to secure an aircraft within minutes and can cater to our customers’ last-minute air charter emergencies. We have a dedicated team to organise and monitor air charter shipments; taking care of all necessary ground handling support; packaging and pre-flight requirements; including trucking, customs and destination services.
Thanks to the one-two punch of Covid and Brexit, we expect the fluctuations to continue, especially in regions where Covid continues to cause ongoing problems. The ongoing situation in Ukraine continues to impact to businesses in Europe and globally. We had hoped that 2022 could mean the start of something normal but our normal has always been to expect the unexpected. For the foreseeable, at least, we see air charter remaining as a go-to mode for time-critical logistics.
