Health & safety policy

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 imposes statutory duties on employers and employees.

GENERAL PRINCIPLES

Priority Freight is committed to providing adequate resources, both financially and otherwise, to ensure safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health. Resources will be appropriate based on the size of the site and the specific activity undertaken.

The organisation operates an integrated management system (IMS) that works to the principles of BS ISO 45001:2018.

OBJECTIVES

It is the intention of all Priority Freight companies, so far as is reasonably practicable, to ensure that:

  • We fulfill all applicable legal health and safety requirements
  • We eliminate hazards and reduce risks
  • We review and continually improve our IMS, including health and safety management
  • Adequate resources, both financial and otherwise, are assigned to ensure the proper provision for health and safety
  • The provision and maintenance of plant and systems of work are safe and without risks to health
  • Arrangements for use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances for use at work are safe and without risks to health
  • Adequate information is available with respect to articles and substances used at work, detailing the conditions and precautions necessary to ensure that, when properly used, they will be safe and without risk to health
  • Employees are provided with such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to secure their health and safety
  • Premises under our control or operations on which we are working are safe and all plant, machinery and equipment is maintained so that it is safe not only for employees and sub-contractors but for any person who may be affected
  • The working environment of all employees is safe and without risks to health and that adequate provisions are made with regard to the facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work
  • The health and safety policy is reviewed and updated as and
    when necessary and any such changes will be communicated to all employees
  • Provide health surveillance to our employees as necessary

It shall be the duty of all employees at work:

  • To participate in creating a health and safety culture by notifying their staff health and safety representative of any concerns
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work
  • To cooperate with the company to ensure that we are able to comply with our legal duties
  • Not to misuse or abuse anything provided by any Priority Freight company for their safety
