Priority Freight joins JLR to launch Unity Wood – a living legacy in the National Forest

Published: Thursday, 4 December 2025

Priority Freight joined Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the National Forest and logistics partners today at a launch event in Oakthorpe, Leicestershire, to celebrate the start of Unity Wood – an ambitious woodland project that will see over 13,000 native trees planted across an 8-hectare site.

The large-scale reforestation initiative brings together more than 17 logistics companies working in partnership with JLR and the National Forest to create a long-term environmental legacy in the Midlands.

“Today’s launch was a meaningful moment for everyone involved,” said Angela Henry, Global Account Manager at Priority Freight. “We’re proud to support Unity Wood – not just as a sustainability initiative, but as a symbol of what collaboration can achieve. This is about taking visible action, close to the communities we operate in.”

Located near the Mercia Park logistics hub, Unity Wood will feature woodland glades, walking paths, a wetland area and new access routes for local people. It marks a new chapter in the National Forest’s 30-year transformation of the Midlands landscape, with planting to continue through to March 2026.

Neal Williams, CEO of Priority Freight, added, “Unity Wood is a powerful example of how the logistics industry can work together to drive environmental change. At Priority Freight, we’re focused not only on delivering urgent solutions today, but on shaping a more sustainable and resilient supply chain for the future. Supporting long-term regeneration projects like this is a natural extension of our responsibility as a strategic logistics partner.”

Priority Freight was one of the first partners to join the initiative, which began when JLR’s Freight Operations team invited logistics providers to contribute to the creation of a new woodland. The project has since raised over £85,000 in funding.

Priority Freight’s involvement is part of its wider ESG strategy, which includes:

  • Reducing carbon emissions through efficient route planning and consolidated shipments
  • Supporting volunteer and environmental initiatives in the communities it operates
  • Championing sustainable practices across the global supply chain

Unity Wood is more than a planting project – it’s a practical demonstration of what can be achieved when sustainability is built into supply chains from the ground up. For Priority Freight, it reflects a long-term commitment to environmental responsibility, meaningful collaboration, and leaving a legacy that grows beyond logistics.
