Superheroes in Logistics
We recently spoke to the Institute of Supply Chain Management following their #KryptoniteFriendly superhero campaign ‘Because Superhero isn’t a job title’.
They wrote a great article about the superheroes working in our logistics offices and featured it in the Supply Chain Outlook magazine!
Priority Freight Superheroes
Ed joined Priority Freight in 2004. As Operations Manager he responsible for managing four teams that work 24/7 supporting major manufacturers with time-critical shipments across the world. Ed started his career as a port runner for a Dutch firm before working in the apparel sector arranging transportation between Europe and North Africa.
The highlight of Ed’s career was working as the master planner during the automotive crisis period detailed above.
Ed explains: “The most challenging task I have experienced in my career to date was delivering time-critical parts to a major client base during the Icelandic Ash Cloud!”
CHOSEN SUPERHERO POWER: “Teleportation – being in the right place at the right time!”
Laura joined the Polish team in January this year. Laura tells us of her experience: “When I first started the role in Logistics, there was a lot to learn and I had to adapt to the pace of things quickly and master the ability to multitask! It can be quite pressurised at times and the speed at which we need to answer customers and find solutions is phenomenal!”
The team in Poland has recently moved to bigger offices to accommodate growing staff numbers. “We are expanding further and currently recruiting three new Logistics Coordinators to join our busy team”, Laura added.
CHOSEN SUPERHERO POWER: “Mind control – I like to be bossy!”
Since joining in 2009 as Logistics Coordinator, Claire has proven her ability to think outside the box and find solutions quickly. Her dedication and commitment was recognised when she was promoted in 2013. Now the Team Leader of the International Department in the Coventry office, Claire takes responsibility for the smooth running of the team, to ensure customers are happy and jobs are completed on time.
“I love my job. Priority Freight really cares about its people, as demonstrated by the way everyone pulls together to support each other during what would otherwise be a chaotic time. They really are the foundation of the business.”
CHOSEN SUPERHERO POWER: “Clone multiplication – I would clone myself when it’s busy to take the pressure off!”
