Priority Freight is the logistics provider of choice for manufactures worldwide
Manufacturing is the driving force behind the UK’s economy. From heavy engineering and car assembly to the production of complex electronic, audio and optical equipment, the country has a reputation for producing high quality, reliable and cost effective goods. Our skills and expertise extend to a huge number of other areas, including the food, drink, textile, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. In fact, name a manufacturing sector and the UK will have an important presence.
October 6th is National Manufacturing Day; an opportunity for manufacturing companies to open their doors to the general public, connect with future generations, and ensure the prosperity of their industries. And with the latest surveys showing that output, orders and employment in the UK are on the increase, and businesses of all sizes are enjoying solid growth, there’s no better time to celebrate the achievements of our manufacturing companies.
Here at Priority Freight, we work closely with a wide range of world-class manufacturers and suppliers, providing time-critical solutions that meet highly complex and urgent transport challenges. Whether you’re a large company shipping parts and goods around the world, or an entrepreneurial start-up with a small number of customers, you need to be able to call on a logistics company which understands your requirements, has a proactive approach to business, and can act quickly.
With a network of strategically placed partners, we are ready to deliver to virtually any location in the world, and can take care of route planning, organise all necessary customs documentation and provide localised support from beginning to end.
A good example of our skills in this area occurred recently when we received an urgent request for the collection of production line components from a customer in Michigan, USA to be delivered to the UK within 48 hours. As the cargo weighed 88 tonnes, specialist handling and manoeuvring equipment had to be on hand throughout the process.
At our 24/7 control centre, the emergency response team planned the most efficient logistics route that would meet the customer’s critical deadline. They arranged for the cargo’s collection from Michigan and transferred it to Detroit where the components were packaged for the remainder of the journey. Once secured, the freight started a seven-hour road trip to Chicago O’Hare airport where a chartered 747 was waiting for the components to be loaded on board using heavy lift cranes.
13 hours later, the cargo landed in the East Midlands. Our transportation management system enabled us to track every movement of the consignment, pre-clear customs and prepare the specialist machinery needed to load the components onto the haulage trucks. Within two hours of landing in the UK, the cargo was en-route to its final destination.
Building partnerships with forward thinking companies is key to our growth and success, and our dedication to beating deadlines and exceeding expectations has made us the logistics partner of choice for national and international manufacturers.
