Priority Freight expands German office with new air freight department

1st August 2016

Priority Freight, a leading global provider of contingency logistics solutions, has enhanced its operations in the heart of mainland Europe by setting up a new, dedicated emergency air freight department at its office in Willich, Germany.

The upgraded office – located less than 25 kilometres from Düsseldorf International Airport – has been fitted with Priority Freight’s first-class tracking and information technology (IT) systems, which will improve speed and reliability of air freight traffic movements.

The bespoke, cloud-based IT system provides real-time tracking of deliveries, route mapping and automated processing and handling of documentation – and integrates securely with clients’ business software.

Neal Williams, Group Managing Director of Priority Freight, commented, „By opening a specialist air freight office, we are now fully-equipped to manage the increased demands of our German and international clients’ requirements for global express air freight solutions to and from Germany and the rest of the world.“

„In addition to strengthening our air freight services managed at our London Heathrow and Madrid Airport control towers, the investment reinforces our commitment to the German market and growing our business in the heart of Europe.“

Priority Freight has hired Bernd Thewissen to oversee development of the new emergency air freight operations in Willich. Bernd brings a wealth of air freight experience to the company from his time at DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, Hartrodt and Geodis.

Priority Freight operates a highly secure, cloud-based logistics tracking system, giving clients full visibility of all shipments in transit, as well as live updates on agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) and freight spend. The system, which is fully compatible with leading enterprise resource planning software such as SAP and Oracle, includes a module for speedy booking of transport orders and for initiating billing processes.

„This upgrade to the office and its solution offering will see the German office follow the growth path of the English, Spanish and Polish offices,“ commented Sven Malmberg, Operations Manager at Priority Freight Europe.

With several strategically located offices across Europe, Priority Freight operates globally, 24/7, all year round. Company revenues exceeded €66m during the 2014/5 financial year. In 2015, the company completed over 150,000 expedited shipments.
